Sophie reflects on the joy and quiet melancholy of a holiday she took with her father twenty years earlier at a fading Turkish resort, piecing together fragmented home-video memories as she tries to reconcile the father she knew as a child with the troubled man she didn't fully understand. Note: this deeply personal directorial debut drew on writer-director Charlotte Wells' own childhood memories and camcorder footage. Despite widespread critical acclaim and an Oscar nomination for Paul Mescal, the film was largely snubbed elsewhere during awards season, later becoming known as one of the most 'underrated' films of 2022.
