A petty criminal serving a life sentence for armed robbery escapes prison by disguising himself in a cleric's robes—only to be mistaken for a real mullah in a small border town, where his makeshift sermons (laced with sly digs at fellow clergy and references to 'brother' Tarantino) unexpectedly make him a beloved spiritual leader. Note: this satire of Iranian clerical hypocrisy was, remarkably, made with the endorsement of Ayatollah Khomeini's grandson and became one of the highest-grossing films in Iranian history—before authorities later banned it as sacrilegious.
