Hana Korea (2025)

Inspired by real events, HANA KOREA follows Hyesun, a young North Korean refugee who has just arrived in fast-paced, hyper-modern South Korea. As she struggles to adapt to her new life, Hyesun must confront the emotional toll of leaving her past behind while trying to carve out a place for herself in a society permeated by high performance and dire expectations. Through Hyesun’s journey, HANA KOREA explores the challenges of modern human existence in a world shaped by increasing individualization and fragmented communities. Hyesun’s story personalises the consequences of division, allowing us to reflect on the wrongdoings of our past and present. Her journey toward freedom comes at a steep price. Was it worth it? Can she truly let go of her past?
