For forty years, Esfandiar has unemotionally prepared corpses for burial, ruling his small cemetery in central Iran with an iron fist. One day, while working, he's suddenly taken ill—forcing him to confront whether he too is mortal, and to scramble toward reconciling with everyone he's wronged. Note: this pitch-black comedy—the first feature by mathematician-turned-filmmaker Mohsen Amiryoussefi, and widely regarded as Iran's first black comedy—was selected for Cannes' Directors' Fortnight in 2004.
