Eric Bishop is a lonely Manchester postman whose life has gradually fallen apart. Struggling with family problems, an unhappy relationship, and a sense that he has lost control of his life, Eric finds himself turning to memories of his footballing hero, the legendary French striker Eric Cantona, for inspiration.
After a series of difficult events, Eric begins having imaginary conversations with Cantona, who offers him unexpected advice about friendship, family, courage, and taking responsibility for his own choices. With the support of his fellow postmen and his newfound determination, Eric starts confronting the problems he has been avoiding for years.
Ken Loach’s Looking for Eric is a warm and humorous film about friendship, second chances, and finding the courage to rebuild a broken life. Blending social realism with comedy and football culture, the film explores loneliness, family relationships, and working-class solidarity while showing how support from others can help someone regain confidence and hope.
